Folly Prep Academy in Boston, Massachusetts has reached the end of the school year. Farewell to the seniors from the journalism laboratory. A lab, run by a lovable advisor, who sets Fridays aside to challenge their minds, with an in-class mystery game called... A dark and stormy night. Murder plots, sex, and discussions of their favorite clichés highlight what works... and what doesn't, in the all but gone slasher genre they love. For Charlotte Avery Cosgrove, her next stop is Harvard. A down to earth valedictorian always at her best when solving anything thrown her way. Tonight's speech rehearsal is a competition for the coveted Shakespeare scholarship. Instead... the seniors find themselves left alone in the pitch black. Charlotte, whose motto, "No story ever ends... it only waits for the right moment to start up again," believes this is a harmless 'dark and stormy' finally, on a larger scale. However, as the rain falls... and the blood pours... As her friends vanish... the past breathes a horrid vengeance into the deadliest clichés, bringing them to life, and raising the bloodshed to the max: 'Scream bloody murder.
