Fred Newschwander is a retired "country veterinarian" after a career of 37 years as a mixed animal practitioner. He graduated with a DVM from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974 and owned practices in Mission, BC, Canada (Mission Veterinary Hospital) and Cle Elum and Ellensburg, WA (Mt. Stuart Animal Hospital). He has been a horseman most of his life and continues as an active trail rider in Central Washington and the Cascade Mountains.
