Author Biography

My name is Cynthia D. Cornelius. I am a native of Oakland, California and a product of the Oakland Public Schools. I possess Bachelors in Africana Studies and a Masters in Equity and Social Justice in Education respectively from San Francisco State University. In 2011, I created The Chinue X Project, Inc. (TCXPI) African Centered Online Resource Service as a vehicle to disseminated Daily African/Black History Facts and bring awareness to the many contributions made by people of African descent. As a facilitator of education, I understand the importance of teaching history that is reflective of African, Black, and African American History to our children and youth. Historically, our children and youth have been deprived of their Ancestors' contributions to world and human civilization. This history has been distorted and omitted for far too long. I have established an African-Centered Saturday School Program in Oakland, California, that will act as a supplement to the current education of our children and youth within the Oakland community. The time is now to educate and facilitate awareness for our children of the history, heritage, and culture of their ancestry. By providing our younger scholars the opportunity to receive education on African/Black History we begin to create history that is indicative of Who They Are in this world - past, present, and future.
