This manual is intended for use in the treatment of convicted sex offenders, either while incarcerated or in a community treatment program. It has been developed over many years by the author in his treatment of scores of sex offender clients.The core program includes nine tasks required of each client: (1) Life & Sexual Autobiography, (2) Ownership, (3) Victim Empathy, (4) Relapse Prevention, (5) & (6) Optional Tasks chosen by each client, (7) Restitution (8) Shame Resiliency, and (9) Final Group Review.The Ownership Task includes distinctive directions for each of four different types of offenders: (1) hands-on offenders, (2) possession/distribution of child pornography, (3) voyeurism and/or indecent exposure and (4) use of electronic means to contact a minor for sex.

Author Biography

J. Robert (Bob) Ross, Ph.D. is the principal in Anchor Counseling & Consulting, which provides counseling for individuals and families and educational seminars for churches and schools. He received his education at Southeastern Louisiana University (B.S., 1962), Columbia Theological Seminary (B.D., 1962) and Emory University (Ph.D., 1969). He is a Kentucky Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a provider for sex offender treatment certified by the Kentucky Sex Offender Risk Assessment Advisory Board (SORAAB). Ross is the author of Freedom from Sexually Compulsive Behavior (2014), editor of The War Within: Violence or Nonviolence in the Black Revolution (Sheed and Ward, 1971); a contributor to The American Family: Life and Health (Third Party Associates, 1986) numerous articles in both scholarly journals and popular magazines including Zygon, The Rotarian, The Restoration Quarterly, Christian Standard, and The Lookout. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and is a Past-President of the organization.
