by Anthony Dimaria (Author)

Kalon and Maglia meet at university while pursuing their doctorates in Behavioral Genetics and Nanobiotechnology respectively. They fall in love, marry and have a beautiful baby named Rhazi. They call him Gaz. Gaz is a typical toddler, but begins to show signs of a learning disability.Kalon decides that he and Maglia could make things better for Gaz. He convinces Maglia to work on the nanobots she's always dreamed of developing. The first one will be to improve cognitive performance and memory recall. Though Kalon does his best to assist, it's Maglia who makes substantial progress. Maglia becomes completely focused on improving her baby boy's walk through life. In doing so, Maglia soon becomes the first pioneer of a new field, the science of enhancements. She designs the bots, the manufacturing techniques, and methods of implantation. Within a short time, these nanotech bots provide an array of cures, monitoring tools, tracing wares, and invaluable benefits. The improvements are a sensation in the hungry worlds of cancer research, congenital and genetic disease science, and much more. Enhancements are so successful that they are mandated by governments for their inoculative properties. Elective and mandatory enhancements are known the world over by their nickname, bumps. The merging of man and machine is now a reality, born out of the love for a child.Kalon and Maglia are overwhelmed by the success. They ask their former classmates Anton and Luisa to join them in forming a new company dedicated to the research, development and manufacturing of enhancements. They choose the name Polysinge. It is a name derived from a minor mishap involving a flat iron and Anton's Dracula costume for Halloween.Polysinge's success seems boundless. It affords the two couples the opportunity to develop more advanced technology.Anton and Luisa are making headway in brain barrier research. They stumble upon a method to transcode external messaging into a person's perceived thought. The person with this implant is unaware that the starting point for their thought isn't their own.The device is a way to control thought, but It has an unexpected affect on those who discovered it.
