During the Depression, the Works Progress Administration (WPA), Transcriptions Unit, prepared an index for all of Clairborne County, Tennessee Deeds, for the years 1801 to 1865. This book contains the original index. Information in this work includes the names of Grantor and Grantee, Date, Deed Book Number, Page, and Consideration for the transaction. The listings are not in strict alphabetical order, but instead all entries for each letter are listed together. The first section of the book is an alphabetical listing by Grantor; the second section contains the alphabetical listing by Grantee. There are more than 14,000 individuals listed in this index.
