In the first type, of which \u003cem\u003eJulius Caesar, Macbeth, \u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eHamlet\u003c\/em\u003e are examples, a strong ruler is killed, replaced by a rebel-figure, and avenged by a nemesis-figure; in the second, represented by \u003cem\u003eRomeo and Juliet, Anthony and Cleopatra, \u003c\/em\u003eand \u003cem\u003eTroilus and Cressida, \u003c\/em\u003e authority is split and the hero is destroyed by a conflict between social and personal loyalties; and in the third, \u003cem\u003eOthello, King Lear, \u003c\/em\u003eand \u003cem\u003eTimon of Athens\u003c\/em\u003e, the central figure is cut off from his world, largely as a result of his failure to comprehend the dynamics of that world.
