In this book, we are going to show the journey and the steps we went through to achieve something that is changing the world. Internet of Things needs no introduction. It is the capability of connecting real life objects to enable them to achieve greater value and service by exchanging data and information. As per Forbes, this is now the most talked technology, beating big data (dated May 2015) and this is not a temporary hype, but the beginning of an era, which will stay for the next 5-10 years. Internet of Things is not a new radical concept that just came into existence now but in reality, it is a capability that is possible only now, due to the advances in database technology like SAP HANA, increased bandwidth, reduced size, and power consumption of devices. Few years back, we started testing the waters by looking into different ways in which we could connect different components, in order to create a basic use-case application of Internet of Things. It looked like a quadratic equation with many solutions but to reduce the complexity we sticked to KISS principle and kept it simple to bring together all the information required to get started, in no time.
