Author Biography

Aziz Talbani is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on religion and education. He has lectured at institutions of higher education in North America, Europe, and Asia. He received PhD and MA degrees from McGill University, MA from the University of London, and MA from Karachi University. His leanings toward philosophy and mysticism result in studies that integrate critical pedagogy methods in the field of religion and social justice issues in education. As a writer and artist, he expresses his ideas through fiction, poetry, and visual art. Her areas of focus are the study of Islam, and Social Ethics. She is immensely interested in student centered teaching and writing pedagogies. She has contributed to the design and inclusion of new curricular with courses in Islam, Music in the Muslim World, Gender, Ethics & Religion in New Media at the Institutions where she has taught including Guilford College, NC and the University of St. Thomas, NB. She obtained her Masters and Ph.D. from McGill University and a BA in English Literature. Her research includes the seminal study on Ibn Tufayl's Hayy ibn Yaqzan and its impact on Muslim, Jewish and Christian Milieux.
