We are not responsible when they choose the wrong path. Do you have a teenager or adult child whose difficulties seem to be preventing you from living your life? We are not responsible when they choose the wrong path. We are not responsible to carry them if they take drugs or commit crimes. Even when they have a disease such as mental illness, we cannot carry this load for them. Do you feel guilty as if you can't do enough to help? Do you question what you didn't do right or what you did wrong? Are you compelled to somehow make this right? You can be freed from this false belief and start living your life. God does not hold you responsible. Galatians 6:5 says, for each one should carry his own load. Taking on others' responsibilities is not being a good person; it is enabling the person and preventing them from growing as a person. It is important to know what you are responsible for and what you are not. My son Bradley had paranoid schizophrenia. It was serious and I had to learn new ways to cope and help him. Much of what I needed to learn was to give it to God and then find people to help me. After ten years of Brad in several apartments, group homes and the mental health complex, he passed - my son died due to his medication that ruined his heart. I stand only by the grace of God. In this book, I impart to you what has helped me.

Author Biography

Mary Ludwig's son Bradley suffered from schizophrenia prior to passing in 2012. She has worked in high schools as a teacher, including special education; and in adult training/education. She has an MA in Instructional Design/Adult Education from Alverno College. Mary lives with her family in southeastern Wisconsin.
