by Donna Marks (Author)

"Looking for God in the Heart of All Places" - At a time when many people are in search of spirituality, we are often led in many directions that provide a limited relationship with God. While the search-via organized and/or religious education-can be enlightening and fruitful, many people get stuck at different crossroads, i.e., when the newness wears off, and the desire tends to wane... This pamphlet will suggest to the reader that when a relentless journey to God is inward( rather than externally sought), life's challenges become better understood as fodder for the development of a genuine and lasting spiritual relationship with God.

Author Biography

Dr. Donna Marks, a native Floridian, was in private practice for 28 years, as a licensed psychotherapist and addictions counselor. Also certified in hypnotherapy and psychoanalysis, she retired from private practice in 2013. During her career, she has also been a consultant and instructor at numerous treatment agencies, colleges, and Crisis Line during her career. She has been an instructor for A Course in Miracles for 25 years, and has studied numerous Christian and metaphysical disciplines, Kabbalah and Peruvian shamanism. She has served as a presenter at dozens of spirituality seminars and workshops. Dr. Marks believes that for many people, there is a deep underlying spiritual need that is not met with traditional counseling. As someone who has coped with a great deal of adversity-from childhood on-she has gained a level of insight and compassion that reaches far beyond textbook learning. She recently completed her biography: Sprinkles From Above in Palm Beach-My Spiritual Quest, in which she shares her childhood history of family alcoholism, abuse, her own personal failures and victories, and her professional life both as a therapist and an entrepreneur. In her book, Dr. Marks shares how those experiences served as stepping stones to a more authentic relationship with God. "I spent my whole life looking for love, and ultimately found everything I wanted right inside of me," she says. "Suffering is a pandemic problem (often rooted in childhood) that frequently leads to despair and desperate attempts-sometimes fatal-to alleviate the pain. People will become dependent on whatever gives them relief, and over time, they become trapped in addiction and/or unhappy lives. Failed attempts at recovery only lead to more hopelessness, frequently resulting in accidental death, illness, or even suicide." Dr. Mark's mission is to reach those who want to heal and who are willing to receive the eternal and internal truths that will set them free. In her pamphlets, and C.D.s she outlines the tools that will make this process possible. She is also available for telephone or Internet consultation at www.drdonnamarks.com.
