Memoir: Celebrating 25 Years of the First LGBT Organization (1897-1922) - Paperback

Daniel A. Brook requested I translate Magnus Hirschfeld's Von einst bis jetzt: Geschichte einer homosexuellen Bewegung 1897-1922 (From past to present: The history of a homosexual movement). For the translation, I used the series of the Magnus-Hirschfeld-Gesellschaft, no. 1 (Berlin: Verlag rosa Winkel), 1986, edited and provided with an Index and an Afterword by Manfred Herzer and James Steakley. I omitted the Afterword, Index and the 17 chapter headings provided in the 1986 edition. The book originally consisted of a series of 52 weekly installments by Hirschfeld published in Die Freundschaft (Friendship) in 1922 and 1923. The series was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Scientific Humanitarian Committee, the world's first LGBT organization, co-founded by Hirschfeld. The articles were to appear in book form in 1922 under the simple title, "Memoir."
