by Marianne Liggett Merriam (Foreword by), Francis Eugene Liggett (Author)

Follow this World War II hero from the depths of the Great Depression to North Africa and the European Theater of World War II. As a young Army officer straight out of the Reserve Officer Training Corps, Gene Liggett directed artillery against the Germans - until he got too far ahead of the American lines and was captured Read the true story about his many near-death experiences throughout the war and while he was a German POW. Journey with him as he escapes the Nazis and makes his way back to America, where he helps build a better life for he, his family, and his nation.

These are the memoirs of an Ordinary, Extraordinary Man as he tells about his life growing up in rural Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska in the 1920's to 1930's. No... Not Yet shows how a determined (and lucky ) young man can defy the odds of the Great Depression, the Plague of Locusts, and the Dustbowl to go from poverty to imprisonment and starvation to eventually escape from a German Prison Camp. He survived the coldest winter in 50 years while on the Long March from Oflag 64 to Luckenwalde, Germany's Prison Camp Stalag 3A, only to escape the oncoming Russian liberators in 1945. He came home to America and made a life for himself and his family that impacted the very fiber of a nation and ultimately helped increase American farming efficiency and global food supplies.

The author, Francis Eugene "Gene" Liggett (1920-2019) was witness and participant in America's stand with the Allied Nations, their fight for freedom, and victory over the tyranny of Hitler's Nazi Germany.
