The battle for Okinawa was the largest amphibious landing with the highest casualties of any battle fought against the Japanese. The book includes the author's personal stories about the action at Sugar Loaf Hill, the Shuri Defense Line, Motobu Peninsula, Yontan Airfield, Oroku Peninsula, including help from the Battleship Mississippi.
