by D. J. Sharry (Author)
For most people, terror is rare-something you escape, something you avoid. But what happens when terror is everywhere?
Persona Medusa follows DJ, a boy whose voice disappears whenever speech is expected. His body freezes. The words don't come.
This is Selective Mutism-not shyness, but an intense phobic fear response that shuts the body down.
Structured around the actor's voice exercise known as the Spinal Roll, the story moves from the thinking head down through fear and tension, toward the "tail" of the spine, where the voice and body finally let go.
A powerful memoir of anxiety and healing-for anyone who has ever felt trapped inside themselves.Author Biography
