Author Biography

Homer Overstreet, born in City Limits of Atlanta, and grew up in the Kirkwood community, where he attended the Atlanta Public Schools and then attended Young Harris College, in Young Harris, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a medical corpsman, ambulance driver and helped in the ER on the night shifts. The "Berlin Build Up" called him up and he came out with the Cuban Missile Crisis", just missing the invasion of Cuba by a few hours due to American / Russian Diplomacy. He worked in construction, real estate and various jobs before becoming a real estate appraiser and earning the SRA designation from the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. In addition, he co-owned and operated "The Appraisal School of Morris and Overstreet" for nine years. He is married to the former Mary Aurelia Taylor, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, and has two adult children. In his later years, he has been able to rekindle a love of writing, poetry, and an interest in the Civil War, re-cultivate a love gardening and fishing, and continue his lifelong love of animals, especially cats. Homer and Mary are the proud "parents" of eight- year old Mittens, a gray tabby.
