by Jamie Terra Hawk (Author)

"Readings of the Medicine Moons" is a sort of sequel to her first book, "Teaching the Way of the Medicine Wheel". This is a study of Native American lunar astrology with legends and mythologies incorporated into each of the twelve moons. The reader is invited to look up their own birthdate and perhaps discover some unknown facts or gifts about their self that they may not have been aware. This book is meant to be contemplative and philosophical, but it is also a lot of fun as you share the readings with family and friends about their own birthday moon. The author has intended it to be used just that way and has proven herself how it can liven up any social get together. Enjoy

Author Biography

Ms. Terra Hawk is a Native American, two-spirit woman, of mixed tribal blood by her mother and French-Canadian father. She has researched her own heritage and the truth of Native American history over 50 years and is of the belief there can be no justice without truth. Her first book, "Teaching the Way of the Medicine Wheel" discusses the moral and philosophical approaches to life which engages each individual to examine their selves and how that behavior or action affects the world around them. "Readings of the Medicine Moons" is a sort of sequel to the first. This book examines Native American lunar astrology and some of the characteristics, animals, plants and minerals associated with the moon each person is born under. Jamie Terra Hawk is a retired mental health professional, domestic violence counselor, substance abuse specialist, and non-denominational (in the strictest sense) minister. She is a political and social activist who believes there can be no justice without truth where there is racism, sexism, or bigotry of any kind. She is the current editor of "The Four Directions", a quarterly Native American newsletter which is focused on recovery principles and the self-empowerment of each individual. Jamie Terra Hawk, by her own admission, is very outspoken and passionate on social justice issues, and believes the only way a person can be truly free is to speak fearlessly ones' own personal truths and convictions. Ms. Terra Hawk will be publishing her autobiography, "The Frog on the Wall" in the near future, a poignant look at overcoming adversities and thriving in a very hostile world.
