Author Biography

Barbara Meiklejohn-Free was born and raised in the Highlands of Scotland and is internationally known as the Highland Seer. She is a bestselling and award-winning author who wrote Scottish Witchcraft and cocreated numerous oracle decks, including Dark Goddess Oracle Cards, Witches' Kitchen Oracle Cards, Witches' Wisdom Oracle Cards, Witches' Familiars Oracle Cards, and Witches of the Craft.

Barbara is a hereditary witch, high priestess, seer, shaman, death doula and wisdom keeper taught within the old Scottish ways through ancestral lineage and lived practice. Her work is rooted in tradition while speaking clearly to the realities of the modern world.

She is the founder of the Coven of Arnemetia and teaches internationally, offering year-and-a-day witchcraft training, shamanic courses, magical protection work, and death doula teachings. She guides others to remember, reclaim, and embody their own ancestral power in the world today.

Ronald Hutton is a professor of history at the University of Bristol who specializes in pre-Christian religion and contemporary Paganism. He is the author of more than a dozen books.
