Halsall, this play presents Female Genital Mutilation\/Cutting (FGM\/C) from the points of view of by-standers, anti-FGM\/C activists, health professionals, women who perpetuate\u003cbr\u003ethe practice and, finally, survivors. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003e'Kubra' \u003c\/b\u003e(Sydney, 2016): written by Dacia Maraini, this short play features a young woman who was subjected to FGM\/C as a child and now, years later, brings her case to court in a search for justice. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eA Trial for Rape\u003c\/b\u003e (Rome, 2018): adapted for theatre by Renato Chiocca from the international award-winning 1979 documentary of the same name, this play reveals how judicial procedures and attitudes toward sexual violence tend to turn rape survivors from accusers into accused. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eIn their interviews, the writers, directors and producers discuss their conception and production of the works collected in \u003ci\u003eStaging Violence Against Women and \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003eGirls\u003c\/i\u003e. The plays and their creators highlight the urgency of raising awareness of these forms of violence and giving voice to survivors.\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eDaniela Cavallaro, \u003c\/b\u003efrom the University of Auckland, is the author of several articles on Italian theatre and two books: \u003ci\u003eItalian Women's Theatre 1930-1960\u003c\/i\u003e, and\u003ci\u003e Educational Theatre for Women in Post-World War II Italy: A Stage of Their \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003eOwn.\u003c\/i\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eLuciana d'Arcangeli\u003c\/b\u003e, author of \u003ci\u003eI personaggi femminili nel teatro di Dario Fo e \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003eFranca Rame\u003c\/i\u003e, was until recently Cassamarca Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, Adelaide. She is currently an adjunct professor, language consultant, translator and interpreter, based in Rome. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eClaire Kennedy, \u003c\/b\u003eadjunct senior lecturer in Italian Studies at Griffith University in Brisbane, has translated and subtitled several plays for performance, and participated in numerous community theatre productions on women's issues. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eBahar Brunton \u003c\/b\u003egrew up in London. In addition to \u003ci\u003eDancing Feet\u003c\/i\u003e, she has had two plays produced: \u003ci\u003eThe Highwayman\u003c\/i\u003e, at the Battersea Barge and the Edinburgh Festival in 2008; and \u003ci\u003eSofka\u003c\/i\u003e, at the Calder Bookshop \u0026amp; Theatre in 2012 and 2013. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eAlex Crampton \u003c\/b\u003eis an intuitive artist, theatre practitioner, ceremonial celebrant, events producer, land worker and food grower. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eMelissa Dean \u003c\/b\u003eis an actress, writer, producer and radio presenter, who uses her creativity as a means for activism. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eKaris E.
