Author Biography

Sherry Blok is the Director of Programs at Concordia Continuing Education at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. She holds over 25 years of experience in teaching English in higher education in Canada. Sherry was part of TESOL's Strategic Initiative Committee behind the development of TESOL's 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching for English Learners(R) and was TESOL's Teacher of the Year in 2015.


Robyn Brinks Lockwood teaches at Stanford University in the graduate program and coordinates the ALC undergraduate program. She actively participates in TESOL, is a past chair of the Materials Writers Interest Section, and frequently presents at TESOL conferences. Robyn writes textbooks for ESL students and teaching materials ESL professionals.


Evan Frendo is a British freelance trainer, teacher trainer and author based in Berlin, Germany. He has been active in English for Specific Purposes since 1993, mostly in the corporate sector. A frequent speaker at conferences, he also travels regularly in Europe and Asia to run courses or to work as a consultant. You can find more information at www.e4b.de.


Deborah J. Short founded and directs Academic Language Research & Training (ALRT), a consulting company, and provides professional development on content-based English, academic literacy, and sheltered instruction worldwide. She has directed many research projects and program evaluations related to English learner education and co-developed the SIOP Model for sheltered instruction. Publications include The 6 Principles books for TESOL, SIOP Model books for Pearson, ESL textbooks like Lift, Reach Higher, Edge and Inside for National Geographic Learning, and professional journal articles. She has taught ESL and EFL, in New York, California, Virginia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She served as TESOL International Association's President from 2020-2021.
