Thirst for Gold and Revenge in Fowler Virginia may be gone, but Dan Hanni and Matt Draper are still around and their promise to let bygones be bygones is beginning to waiver. Blade has Rex Bolt delivering warnings to them, and the Deputy Director of the FBI is taking a personal interest in the developments. In the meantime Jim, Marie and Blade are distracted by a search for 250 pounds of gold that disappeared over two centuries earlier. Their hunt takes them to Pittsburgh, Washington DC, in the heart of the Smithsonian Institute, and back to the Auboretum in Fowler, Ohio. When the deadly assassins, Weasel McGrory and his brother Jack show up from the West Coast, things heat up to a boiling point. Blade devotes his attention to the McGrory brothers, who are also West Coast surfing champions, as Deputy Director Robert Stanton tries to keep an eye on Hanni and Draper. To add to the confusion, the wedding of Dianne and Fred is scheduled to go forward, as the social event of the year in Fowler Township. And, once more, people are starting to disappear in Fowler, Ohio. In the end, it will require the heroism and loyalty of all parties concerned, including Rex Bolt and his henchmen to have any chance of thwarting Hanni's evil plans. If they wish to survive, Jim and Marie will both need to think and act quickly in life and death situations.
