The Natives of Block Island (Manisseans) are experiencing more contact with European Traders. Some of them have seemingly traded in bad faith angering the Indians. The young brave named Asesakes tries to intervene but the exchange quickly turns violent.
Fellow Englishman, Captain John Gallop, sailing nearby comes to Oldham's aid. He and his crew of teenage men including James Sands and Thomas Terry fight off the Natives but it is too late. Audsah escapes while Gallop reports the incident to the Massachusetts Bay authorities.
