by Chris Worthington (Author)

The Hauntings of Harrisonville is a companion to the Adventures of Jules de Grandin. It lists the characters and places, and there is a short synopsis of each of the 93 tales. It is designed to be used as a guide alongside the tales, to help the reader appreciate the works of Seabury Grandin Quinn. Included in the book is Quin by year, a bibliography of all the currently known works of both fact and fiction. It includes an index of material from The Dodge Chemical Company Magazine, the then De-Ce-Co Magazine. A complete year from The American Funeral Director, which is all I currently have. Plus the two rare books on Mortuary Matters, A Syllabus of Mortuary Jurisprudence, and An Encylopedic Law Glossary For Funeral Directors and Embalmers. I have also added a few of my favourite Quotes, plus a few items that it is recommended all budding Phantom Fighters should arm themselves with. There is also a short list of items about Seabury Quinn, an other reference books used to compile the index of places and characters. Every story has where it took place, and the main theme of the story, whether it is about Mummies, Vampires or Werewolves. The opinions are my reaction to the stories, and having read most of them at least 10 or more times over the years, sometimes my opinion has changed. It was also fun to spot the earlier stories on which some of these Jules de Grandin were based. Some of these reworkings are more or less identical to the original. Overall, it has been hard work, and sometimes the sheer volume of pages and words seemed insurmountable. The book has been totally relaid and rewritten from its original form which appeared in 2001. Owing to a falling out with the intended published it will not now appear in that form, but in this one which I think will be easier to understand. However, I will have to revert to the original designation that was wanted for these 93 stories when I come to being the next volume, which will deal with the unconnected stories. The Third Volume in the series will deal with the other serial characters, although some of these were short lasting. Some one wanted more. But they were never written.... C'est un nom du un nom d'une fromage qui c'est vert.. N'est pas? I hope you all enjoy this book. Chris Worthington.
