New Guinea Island is the second largest island in the world and known as the largest between all tropical islands. This island is accounted amongst the richest biodiversity areas and has the most diverse assemblage of ecosystems on the earth. New Guinea consists of one big island with some small satellite islands, and administratively belongs to Papua-Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (mentioned further as PNG).
