David Kempner was the only one of his Kalisz family to survive those terrible years, to build a new life in America and serve as an eyewitness to history. Never once did he give in. Or give up. This book celebrates his life, honors Poland's oldest Jewish community and mourns their destruction. Irv Kempner, a retired vice-president of Gillette, is a long-time activist and supporter of Holocaust memorial programs and Jewish heritage trips for teens and adults to Eastern Europe, as well as pro-Israel advocacy and promoting Polish-Jewish dialogue. He lives in Sharon, MA and is married to Mindy. Together they are the proud parents of three and grandparents of 11.
