María Mayberry is associate professor of Spanish at California State University, Sacramento and author of several scholarly articles in Hispania. She has a continuing research interest in language acquisition. She teaches graduate seminars in comparative grammars and applied linguistics. Edward Baranowski, is professor of Spanish at California State University, Sacramento, and teaches all levels of Spanish. He has translated several texts written by early Spanish explorers in California.
