One day, while Eric sat in the shade of an old apple tree, he decided to play a game of tossing an apple up into the tree to see how far it would go. Knowing that when something goes up into the air it will always come back down, Eric became confused when the apple never did return into his hands. Then it became even more mysterious when he heard an unusual sound come from the branches of that apple tree. How could he explain this when he was the only one around?

Now, his brother Josh had an idea that he could play a trick on Eric if he hid in the tree. So, when Erich threw the apple up into the tree, Josh cleverly grabbed it before it could return into Eric's grasp. While looking for that apple, Eric poked Josh with a stick causing him to yell out. When the apple appeared to speak to Eric causing him great confusion, Josh could not control his laughter. Seeing that he was alone, Eric began to think that apples could really talk after all.
