When Gary Newman and Galen Merrill were fourteen and April Newman was nineteen years old, the family was spending a few days at the family camp on Tomah Stream in Forest City, during February school break.

It was a cold day and the boys went through the ice into the stream and April was able to pull them back onto the ice.
April joined the Army after college, became a lieutenant, and studied to become a nurse practitioner and a reconstructive plastic surgery technician.

Gary studied carpentry and drafting and formed his own carpentry company.

Galen studied advanced computer technologies and electronics at M.I.T. to further his knowledge. He and April together built his life's dream-an A.I which they hope to sell to the C.I.A.
