Generally, Ghanaian dishes are mainly made up of a starchy portion (rice, yam, plantain, cassava, cocoyam, maize) and a sauce (tomatoes) or soup saturated with fish (freshwater and saltwater), snails, crabs, meat (including bush meat), or mushrooms with vegetables, such as garden eggs (eggplant), okra, kontomire (cocoyam leaves), and a whole variety of greens and beans.
