by Ba Lawrence a. Weeks (Author)

This book is a collection of items pertinent to the history of the Cooley-Bushnells of Geauga County, Ohio, a family of early pioneers in the Western Reserve in a town called Chardon, a town named after Peter Chardon Brooks, someone who never even saw the city. I followed an early family genealogy that was in the possession of the late Cecelia Avens Cooley (my mother-in-law) that was put together by George Eleazor Bushnell, in a work titled Bushnell Family Genealogy: Ancestry & Posterity of Francis Bushnell (1580-1646), Nashville, Tennessee, 1945, a copy of which is in the Western Reserve Historical Society in University Circle near downtown Cleveland.

Author Biography

I was born in 1944 and was adopted in 1947. I authored Scattered Siblings, a book detailing my 28 year search for my birth parents, whereby I met my birth-mother when I was 50 years old. After working in the materials field in local businesses, I taught Business Studies for 24 years at a local vocational school and retired in 2013. I am a graduate of Cleveland State University with a BA in History and Social Science, which has helped me in my search for the material used in this book. I also re-typed and edited Father Tantonnio, written by my wife's grandfather in 1893, which is included in this book and is also available as a separate publication. I have also published a light-hearted coming-of-age book called Your Place or My Car. As of 2014, I have been married to my wife Reneé for 34 years and have three children, Yvette, Leslie, and Matthew, and have five grandchildren, and two granddogs. In this manuscript I found that I was more of a hunter and gatherer rather than a narrator of my wife's family history. I hope it is appreciated and found to be interesting to local historians.
